Most of us are stuck indoors thanks to the bad weather, so we might as well get a few things done around the house.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s activity is <strong>Skirting boards and floors<\/strong>. Most of us are pretty good at running a broom or a vacuum cleaner around the place on at least a semi-regular basis, but today it&#8217;s time to do give it the full spring clean treatment.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s get the whole thing done by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Moving furniture etc if needed<\/li>\n<li>Dusting down the skirting boards and cleaning them with a damp cloth<\/li>\n<li>Vacuuming carpets, then taking extra care with corners and edges<\/li>\n<li>Sweeping, polishing or mopping hard floors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re going to mop a floor today, remember you might need to dry the floor by wiping it rather than opening the windows. Unless you want a load of snow or freezing rain coming in (please don&#8217;t do that&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s happening here<\/h2>\n<p>I ventured out in the snow yesterday to take some things from a previous declutter to a charity collection point, but managed to stay out of the shops on the way back. It&#8217;s got to that point in the week where it&#8217;s very tempting to spend a few quid, but I&#8217;m hanging back just a little instead in case we need a few more groceries over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;d run out of snacks and bread rolls, so I made some brioche burger buns with sesame seed topping to have with our dinner, and a batch of coconut and chocolate muffins. Both recipes were slightly improvised because we&#8217;ve run out of the exact ingredients, but both were very tasty. Thank goodness.<\/p>\n<p>Today I&#8217;m going to clean all the downstairs floors, and I&#8217;ll do the kitchen floor with a wet mop and detergent followed by a dry mop for quicker drying time. Most things we had planned this weekend have been cancelled, and I don&#8217;t know if the trains will be running, so there won&#8217;t be too many distractions.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, the lousy weather and a bit of cookery improvisation mean that no money has been spent out of the budget, so things are looking good so far this weekend.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Total spent so far<\/strong><\/em>: \u00a30.00.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you finding it easier to reduce your spending this week?
