I always find the first day a little daunting but it&#8217;s easier if you have a menu plan, and you try to have a cheapie or no-spend day.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s activity is to <strong>find yourself a Summer Read<\/strong>. It&#8217;s up to you whether you find yourself a free or very cheap book or magazine to read now, or you make yourself a wish list of things to read later. After all, what could be more relaxing than having some time off, and lounging on the beach or putting your feet up and having a good read?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Places to find free or very cheap things to read<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Your local library: take out a print book, reserve a book, borrow an ebook or audiobook via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdrive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Overdrive<\/a> or other loans system<\/li>\n<li>Local book swaps, workplace book swaps, informal loans from friends or family<\/li>\n<li>Out-of-copyright classic books at Project Gutenberg<\/li>\n<li>Free e-books: search by individual category on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon UK<\/a>, follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/freebook?f=tweets&amp;vertical=default&amp;src=hash&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#FreeBook hashtag<\/a> on Twitter, Facebook pages such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/freebooksforkindleuk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Free Books for Kindle UK<\/a>, etc<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re already an Amazon Prime customer, you can get free access to up to ten magazines, books and graphic novels at any one time through the Prime Reading section of the Kindle Store<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer to become a reviewer with Booktasters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netgalley.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NetGalley<\/a> or other review services<\/li>\n<li>General freebie websites and forums often have listings for free books, ebooks and magazines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Book inspiration for your wishlist<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Newspaper and magazine reviews<\/li>\n<li>Book blogs<\/li>\n<li>Recommendations from staff in bookshops<\/li>\n<li>Book review podcasts<\/li>\n<li>Recommendation websites and apps:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goodreads<\/a>, WhatShouldIReadNext, Bookish, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jellybooks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jellybooks<\/a> and many more<\/li>\n<li>Book clubs, word of mouth, friends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you have any other ways for finding great books or magazines, whether free, discounted or full price, please leave a comment below and share your tips and ideas.
