As always there&#8217;s something new to try every day in the form of a quick or simple activity to keep things fresh.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h1>Tenner Week Feb 2020 Schedule<\/h1>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><em><strong>Sunday<\/strong><\/em>: Sunday Stocktake activity (optional, see below)<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Monday<\/strong><\/em>: Financial filing<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Tuesday<\/strong><\/em>: Where does all my money go?<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Wednesday<\/strong><\/em>: A quick look down the back of the sofa<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Thursday<\/strong><\/em>: Debts (or assets)<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Friday<\/strong><\/em>: Fun with freebies<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Saturday<\/strong><\/em>: Find a better deal<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Sunday<\/strong><\/em>: A simple plan<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h1>Sunday Stocktake<\/h1>\r\n<p>This is a completely optional activity, but I&#8217;ve found over the years that it only takes a few minutes to complete and it can be a great help with the budgeting. All you need to do is have a good look around your home to see what&#8217;s already available to you right now. You can even think of it as an exercise in gratitude &#8211; you may not realise how much you already have, and it&#8217;s usually a reassuring reminder.<\/p>\r\n<p>Start with your food and drink. What do you have in the house? Make a note of everything, including the contents of:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Fridge and freezer<\/li>\r\n<li>Cupboards<\/li>\r\n<li>Bread bin<\/li>\r\n<li>Worktop canisters<\/li>\r\n<li>Tea caddy<\/li>\r\n<li>Biscuit box or jar<\/li>\r\n<li>Secret chocolate stash<\/li>\r\n<li>Fruit bowl<\/li>\r\n<li>Baking box<\/li>\r\n<li>Garage or shed<\/li>\r\n<li>Wine rack<\/li>\r\n<li>Windowsill herbs<\/li>\r\n<li>Kitchen garden or allotment<\/li>\r\n<li>&#8230; etc<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>You might want to freeze one or two things, such as milk or bread, so that you have some left to use towards the end of the week.<\/p>\r\n<p>If you have time, you might also like to make a quick menu for the week, making sure that you use up perishable ingredients before they have the chance to go off. After all, this challenge isn&#8217;t just about saving money, it&#8217;s always been about preventing waste and making the most of what you have.<\/p>\r\n<p>Other things you might like to take stock of:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><em><strong>Entertainment<\/strong><\/em>: subscriptions, downloads, books, library cards, what&#8217;s on Freeview, art materials, anything to do with hobbies, etc<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Mending<\/strong><\/em>: DIY equipment and materials, sewing stuff, and so on<\/li>\r\n<li><em><strong>Storage<\/strong><\/em>: Files, folders, boxes, dividers, bags, racks, jars<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>All these are handy for keeping busy and simply enjoying everyday life.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>That&#8217;s it for today, see you tomorrow for Day 1 of the new Tenner Week Challenge!<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s time for a brand new Tenner Week Challenge!
