To recap quickly from yesterday, my quick bath turned into a wallow while the casserole simmered away slowly in the oven. Dug out a few rarely-used beauty products and gave my hair a deep condition, slapped on a face pack, then slathered myself with body lotion afterwards. Oh, and it turns out the casserole recipe might be my all-time winner.<\/p>\n

It was a sunshiny day today, so I went out into the garden before breakfast and planted out my bare root raspberry canes, then watered them in. Here’s hoping the cat doesn’t dig them up while I’m asleep tonight, eh? Anyway, I think that counts as a thrifty chore because hopefully they’ll bed themselves in and give us lots of juicy berries next summer. They’ll pay for themselves even if we only get a couple of punnets out of them.<\/p>\n

Breakfast was cereal and milk – free because I’m doing a month-long taste test of various new cereals (more about that later this week when I’ll be writing up the review). Then I got on with some work and when I looked up it was 1.30pm. There was just enough casserole left over for a small lunch, along with some orange juice and a pear. After work I put the radio on, then gave myself a quick manicure and pedicure to tick the pampering box for some Tenner Week bonus points.<\/p>\n

Then it was time for dinner. On Mondays I like to fix up something quick and easy, so I went to the freezer and dug out some chopped homegrown plum tomatoes, leftover grilled aubergine slices and leftover roasted vegetables. With a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and fresh basil from the greenhouse it made a pretty good pasta sauce for storecupboard fusilli. Then we had frozen forest fruits (Sainsbury’s Basics range) warmed up with a splash of raspberry liqueur for dessert. Tastiest Monday night dinner I’ve had in aaaages.<\/p>\n
