Take a packed lunch, snacks and water with you to keep the costs down, and try something interesting, new and different.<\/p>\n<p>You might even be surprised at how many free \/ cheap things there are in your neighbourhood, or at least within easy reach today. You might find:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Charity events or jumble sales etc<\/li>\n<li>Free music recitals from music students<\/li>\n<li>Street performances<\/li>\n<li>Activities for kids &amp; families<\/li>\n<li>Festivals, regattas, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.free-events.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual traditional events<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Conservation \/ green events<\/li>\n<li>Tickets for a TV or radio recording<\/li>\n<li>Museums and galleries<\/li>\n<li>Exhibitions and promotions<\/li>\n<li>Free sport and fitness activities<\/li>\n<li>Volunteering opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Adult education (free or subsidised)<\/li>\n<li>Readings or library events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s happening here?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going out for a nosey around a couple of free museums and art galleries today, with a flapjack or two in my handbag in case I get the nibbles &#8211; promise not to exit via the gift shop. Will almost certainly stop off for a tea or coffee somewhere though, think I have an e-voucher for a free Caffe Nero hot drink saved on my phone.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re having a store cupboard meal tonight using toad in the hole batter mix and chicken-style veggie bake, and some garden vegetables. Have also booked in for a film preview screening tomorrow, which is free through The Beau&#8217;s work and he gets a +1.<\/p>\n<p>Total TV watched so far: 120 minutes (another episode of The Bridge Series 2 last night on catch-up.
