Does it need cleaning or mending? Be honest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If it was impractical or generally just wrong, it&#8217;s time to sell it and maybe put the money towards something better. If the fit could be improved, alter it. If it just needs cleaning or mending, sort that out as quickly as you can.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, if it is truly excellent and nothing needs doing to it, it&#8217;s on question two:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>What do I need to add to turn this into an OUTFIT?<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve done it so many times in the past: bought something and barely worn it, then realised that something (usually something small) was missing. Most of the time it was something like a belt, an underslip, a pair of tights or a vest. Adding in the missing item to make a proper outfit &#8211; a whole look &#8211; made all the difference, and the item went into regular use.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if I&#8217;m shopping and I see something really like, I take an extra moment to properly think about the entire look that it&#8217;s going to be part of. Then I decide whether it&#8217;s worth picking up the additional items that I&#8217;d need to go with it, or whether it&#8217;s going to go back on the rail.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Do you have anything in your wardrobe that needs a specific little extra something?
