For the next seven days there&#8217;s a change of pace as we move into Cleaning and Organising Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/jump-start-january-2025-challenge-week-1-simple-self-care\/\">gentle self care start<\/a><\/strong> now leads on to sorting out our homes and clothes out for the start of the New Year. We&#8217;re getting tidy and organised, streamlining things and getting rid of old clutter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jump Start January 2025: Week Two Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Cleaning-tools-and-products.jpg\" alt=\"Cleaning tools and products get organised at home\" class=\"wp-image-86603 lazyload\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"816\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Cleaning-tools-and-products.jpg\" alt=\"Cleaning tools and products get organised at home\" class=\"wp-image-86603 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Cleaning-tools-and-products.jpg 816w, https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Cleaning-tools-and-products-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pennygolightly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Cleaning-tools-and-products-768x508.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 816px) 100vw, 816px\" \/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the day-by-day schedule for Cleaning &amp; Organising Week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Day 8: Scarves, hats &amp; gloves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 9: Breakfast bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 10: Bathroom shelf<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 11: Home &#8216;office&#8217; tidy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 12: Brush up your brushes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 13: Windows &amp; mirrors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Day 14: Linen store check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of these activities should only take a few minutes, so don&#8217;t worry if you have to miss a day. You can easily catch up at the weekend if that&#8217;s more convenient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 8: Scarves, hats &amp; gloves<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>January is often chilly, so make sure your warmest accessories are pleasant to wear. Freshen up your scarves, knitted gloves, beanie or bobble hats, thermals or anything else that might have been in storage. Give them a careful delicates wash and dry flat if possible to avoid pulling knits out of shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 9: Breakfast bar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, very few people in the UK have a breakfast bar in their home, but making your own breakfast is definitely cheaper than buying it. Have a think about how you can make breakfasts simpler or easier in the mornings, especially on days you might be in a rush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, you could set a table the night before, put cereals in dispensers on a countertop, move bowls or plates to a more reachable shelf, put a fruit bowl nearer to a blender, or store a microwave omelette maker in the cupboard nearest to the microwave. Whatever suits you best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 10: Bathroom shelf<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, all you need to do is tidy one shelf in your bathroom. Decide what most needs to live on this shelf, clear it of all clutter then clean it, and only put back the things that really need to be there. Find homes for whatever doesn&#8217;t need to be there, or recycle it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 11: (Saturday) Home &#8216;office&#8217; tidy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t need to have an actual home office &#8211; it&#8217;s just the area where you do your admin, such as planning your schedule, paying bills or studying. Give it a little tidy today, such as clearing your desk, organising digital files, decluttering a bookshelf or tidying up boxes or drawers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 12: (Sunday) Brush up your brushes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to forget those hairbrushes and combs, but it&#8217;s good to give them a quick clean so let&#8217;s do that today. You could also wash makeup brushes or sponges (dry brushes flat on a towel so the glue doesn&#8217;t soften at the base or the bristles), a body or back brush, a nail brush or foot file, or a bath mitt or puff today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 13: Windows &amp; mirrors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Get the glass cleaner or vinegar solution out and make a window or mirror or two sparkle today. It never hurts to let some more light in during those January days. Today&#8217;s a Monday, so keep it simple and clean the glass in the room that you spend the most time in. Bonus points if you have time to dust the blinds, curtains or shutters too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 14: Linen store check<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Time to look through some of the fabric in our homes to check it for damage. Choose whatever you like: tea towels, bath towels, bedding, tablecloths, blankets or throws. See whether anything needs to be mended, washed or treated for a stain, ironed, put away tidily, moved to the rag bag, or recycled. If there&#8217;s anything you&#8217;ll never use again, recycle or donate it to reduce clutter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s all the activities for the Cleaning &amp; Organising Week &#8211; let&#8217;s tidy up and make life brighter and easier for ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enjoying this post?
